Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers

High temperatures & diverse fluid flows – engineered for performance under pressure

What is a Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger?

Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers (SHE) are the most common type of heat transfer equipment used in high-pressure and high-temperature industrial processes. As the name suggests, the design consists of a large cylindrical vessel (the shell) containing a bundle of smaller tubes running through its center. One fluid flows through the shell, while the second fluid flows over those tubes within the shell to facilitate the exchange of thermal energy.

Applications & Benefits

Shell & tube technology is the optimal solution for:

  • Steam and vapor heat recovery
  • Applications where fouling can be expected
  • High-pressure or high-temperature conditions
  • Energy-intensive operations in the chemical, energy, or heavy industry

Thanks to their versatile design, shell & tube exchangers offer extensive configurability and long-term reliability.

Key Features

  • Can be customised with various baffle arangements & tube materials for optimal performance
  • Ideal for projects where two vastly different flow rates are used
  • Double tube sheets can be used to ensure leak free safety setup

Sustainability in Action

By integrating shell & tube exchangers into your process, you:

  • Minimize thermal energy loss
  • Lower your carbon footprint
  • Comply with ESG and CSRD reporting obligations
  • Advance toward net zero and circular energy models
  • Meet both local and European sustainability targets
